UPDATE FROM OUR CEO TIM RAMAGE

It is with great humility and with a heart of gratitude that I write this letter to you, our Rock Solid Refuge friends. It was only a year ago that I was invited by Dallas Block to consider becoming the CEO of Rock Solid Refuge. If I had been told exactly what the next year would hold and how incredibly and quickly God would bring about His plans for Rock Solid, I would probably have told Dallas the job was too big for me. You see, that is the truth, this job and this ministry are too big for myself, and for all of us here at Rock Solid. But none of it is too big for our awesome God.

Nothing at Rock Solid could have been done without God’s divine intervention and ongoing miracles. In a few short months we have gone from a summer camp to a full-time year round program for eight boys. We are very excited and thankful for what God has done for Rock Solid Refuge over the past few months. What began as a simple drawing on a piece of paper became professional blueprints for a beautiful 7200 sq. ft. residence shortly thereafter. Now, only eight months later that simple drawing has very quickly become a reality with the volunteer help of professional contractors, and Mennonite Disaster Services under the leadership of our Construction Coordinator.

The new residence which will house 16 boys, offices, rec room, kitchen, dining hall and chapel is now amazingly already in the drywalling stage. How did we get so far so fast? Once again, the only answer is God and the people who are responding to God’s call on their hearts to help us. We are well ahead of our schedule, but apparently right on time with God’s schedule as He continues to bring the workers and the materials we have needed.

Yes, we are astonished at the quickness of the building of this “ark on the prairie,” and we want to see the completion, and so it is with humbleness that I write to you and ask you, our friends, to continue to keep Rock Solid Refuge in your prayers. We are going through many transitions, adjustments and changes and fast growth, and for all that we need much prayer...each and every day.Along with our very quick growth and ongoing construction of our residence, comes the fact that because so much has happened so quickly we are in need of God’s continual financial and material provision. Because we are way ahead of schedule we have to purchase materials for the residence that we thought we would not need until the Fall. God is not limited by what we cannot do ourselves, and we have definitely seen Him time and time again go beyond our limitations and provide out of His infinite resources. So, I close this letter to ask you to pray about how you can financially support us as we continue with our building program and embark on our year long program.

It costs Rock Solid Refuge $120 per day or $4.82 per hour per student to give these young people hope in Christ and an opportunity to be free of the poor life choices and to be free of the addictions that they may have. Would you sponsor a young person and help us make a real difference in their life. I am also asking 1000 people to pledge $1000 per year to help with the ongoing cost of having youth at Rock Solid Refuge and with the building program. Will you be one of those 1000 people? Whatever you are able to give...whether it be through prayer, through volunteer work, or through financial help, we can’t do it without you. Thank you so much for your concern and support of our ongoing work to help young boys make positive life- changing choices and decisions.
